Grey Squirrel

The eastern grey squirrel is perhaps the most common and easily recognizable animal in North America. This squirrel has few natural predators and, as a result, they are extremely common in North American forests east of the Mississippi.
Grey Squirrels may be found throughout hardwood forests feeding on acorns, hickory nuts and other seeds. The grey squirrel builds small sturdy nests out of twigs, sticks, leaves and other found organic material. These nests are often high in the canopies of trees and are where the squirrel raises their young and stores food.
