Black Snake

This snake, sometimes called the rat snake, is a non venomous climbing snake that prefers heavily wooded areas.  This Snake's preference for heavily wooded areas is largely due to its unique ability to climb mature trees without the aide of branches.

The black snake feeds by suffocating it's prey, then swallowing it whole. black snakes hunt small mammals like, squirrels, chipmunks, rats and mice. They will also eat birds, bird eggs and other snakes.

Although this particular snake is classified as 'non venomous' their bite is very painful, and should be avoided.
