Wild Turkey

Description: The wild turkey feeds on nuts, berries, acorns, grasses, insects, and the turkey will also eat almost any small creature it encounters such as lizards or grubs. The wild turkey has a dark plumage with striking bronze, copper, and green iridescent colors. Male turkeys have growth known as spurs on the side of their legs they use when they are battling other males for mates. The males also have growth of bristle like feathers known as a "beard" that extends from their chest. It is not uncommon for females to have beards. Females are usually duller in color than the males which help them camouflage them while they are nesting.

Food: Seeds, grasses, acorns, nuts, and insects
Breeding: Males are called gobblers or toms. Females are called hens. Males attract females by gobbling and strutting.
