Mayo Boat Day

The Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department will be sponsoring their inaugural Mayo Boat Day, Saturday, May 10, 2008 beginning at 10am. This is a great opportunity to bring your boat and show it off to everyone during this festive event. All boaters are welcomed to bring and show any type of vessels including: Bass Boats, Saltwater boats, Sailboats, Canoes, Kayaks, Handmade Vessels, Vintage Water Crafts, Speed Boats, Hobby Boats, and any other type of boat you would like to show.

Mayo Boat Day t-shirts will be available at the event. Food vendors will be available at this event beginning at 11 am. There is no fee to bring your boat for everyone to see. Parking and viewing space is limited so call the Mayo Ranger Station to register for your spot. 

Boat Day exhibitors will include: Boats from “The Sports Shop”; “Hyco Boats and Boards”; free vessel demos from “GET OUTDOORS” canoes and kayaks; “Person County Rescue Squad” rescue and recovery boat unit; “The Progress Energy Boat”, a certified mechanic from Mayo Marina will be there to talk about repairs and maintenance; the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission’s Wildlife Officer and Boat, and much more.
